La Maison de la Francophonie de Vancouver, Société en commandite is a limited partnership founded April 25, 1988 to acquire and operate a building as a francophone community centre. It is a not-for-profit corporation and a charity registered with Revenue Canada and Revenue Québec.
La Maison currently has thirteen limited partners. Each of these partners is a not-for-profit organization, incorporated under the B.C. Societies Act. Most of these partners are also tenants within the building known as La Maison de la Francophonie. Each partner organization has a distinct membership and a distinct Board of Directors.
La Société Maison de la Francophonie de Vancouver (SMFV) is a not-for-profit society incorporated under the B.C. Societies Act. It was incorporated March 29, 1988 and acts as general partner to La Maison de la Francophonie de Vancouver, Société en commandite and as manager of the building and of Studio 16, La Maison’s performance venue. The Board of Directors of SMFV, elected by its members at its Annual General Meeting, is responsible for the management of the partnership and the building known as La Maison de la Francophonie. The Board retains the services of the Executive Director to manage the affairs of the Society.
